Does TMZ really count as news? Because when I hit info on my remote it says Entertainment, News, CC. I guess celebrity’s personal life is now news. I thought news was a report of recent events. I don’t care who won American Idol. I don’t care about Miley Cyrus. I don’t care about celebrities. I think its really bad when people much rather talk about celebrities lives then their actual kids. People act like they know celebrities because they watch TMZ. When you actual run into a celebrity you probably wont know what to do. Living in Los Angeles it happens all the time. I run into celebrities all the time around LA. They come into my work and they are normally people that need help too. Who go camping and who rent their Skis. Celebrities are people not news.

3D Playboy Update

After searching the coastal region of LA for over and hour I final found somewhere that actually sold Playboy.
I was mistaken Hope Dworaczyk is not the playmate of the month but of the year. There is only one 3D picture of her and its big advertisement for the new vampire series on HBO starting on June 13 at 9 pm called True Blood. The 3D glasses are the old school style with one blue and one red eyepiece. The image does pop in some place but over all the image is not work the $6 and hour I spent looking for it.
I did think it was interesting the people I met while I was purchasing the magazine. I found a newsstand in Brentwood around 5 o clock that was sealing the magazine and it was busy with people. I asked the clerk if the sold the June edition of Playboy and right away he said “the one with the 3D centerfold.” He pointed me in the direction and an older lady looked at me funny and asked me why it had a 3D centerfold. I then started to explain I was buying it for my class and explained the Playboy is trying something new much like the movies are making everything 3D. A few more people heard what we were talking about and chimed in. Talking about how 3D is old news and don’t understand the fuss, and how I shouldn’t be buying a dirty magazine like that. Being Brentwood all of the people at the newsstand were older and white. As I was paying for my magazine the older lady I was originally was talking too grabbed her own copy of Playboy along with her copy of People and Star magazine.

Playboy in 3D

The newest edition of Playboy Magazine has become the newest media to conform. In the June 2010 edition of Playboy Magazine it features one of the most media attention grabbers, 3D. Hope Dworaczyk is the June centerfold and will be the first Playboy Model to appear in 3D. The play on 3D is a current media fade and an attempt to grab media attention and to help revolutionize the magazine. In an interview with Hugh Hefner, he said ” What would people most like to see in 3D, probably a naked lady.” Just for this class I will go out and buy a copy of the Magazine and will report back ASAP. Maybe I am conforming to what the media wants.

Think is on edition of Playboy people will not be reading for the articles.

Facebook Advertisement

Today I started noticing on the side of Facebook there are advertisements. I never really noticed them until I saw my friend, who is a girl, her advertisement. They were different from mine. Most of my advertisement are about joining the army or how the police academy is looking for me ages18 to 25 to join. Every now and then I get one about snowboarding and something cool like a coupon for food. I started noticing hers and hers were different. Her Facebook Advertisement was about diet pills and finding a boyfriend on a dating service. She also had girly advertisements form clothing stores and new stores opening and make up products.

Is Facebook some how about to read and understand who the user is? I didn’t really starting thinking about this because I thought everyone got the same advertisement. Now I know it changes. Some how face book knows I golf and like to snowboard and every now and then a golf or snowboard advertisement will pop up. I wondering if it knows what types of food I like too. I thought it was interesting that the advertisement changed for my friend that was a girl. Was she looking up on like about weight loose and some how Facebook found out about it and is now trying to sell her a product? .coms have to make money somehow.

I am not too sure what to write about for this week’s blog topic. I will just pretty much say what’s on my mind.
Arizona has the write to choose what laws they would like to enforce. That’s why the people or Arizona Voted on it.
It really sucks that the oilrig sprung a leak in the gulf. A lot of animals are going to be dieing. And people are more worried if the Lakers are going to win their next game or whom the next American Idol is.
Lady Gaga and Ke$ha are in it for the money not to help People.
How the hell did Lady Gaga get onto Times 100 most influential people? She doesn’t do anything. All she sings about is getting drunk at the club and sleeping with people. Great influence. What has she done with her life that she is Times worthy. This list of people has people like Bill Clinton, Banksy, and our President Barak Obama. Lady Gaga should be the last person on this list of influential people. She just wants people to buy her new album.

Laker Loose for Fame and Money

Part of me is starting to think that the Los Angeles Lakers are loosing on purpose. While the Lakers are at home they can kill the Oklahoma Thunder 87 to 111 (24 pt difference) but when they are away the Thunder barley beat them 96 to 101 (5 pt difference). The Lakers were the number 1 team in the west and number 3 team in all of basketball. They only lost 25 games. But some how the number 8 rank team in the west can win 2 game … so far??? I am starting to think that the Lakers loose for ratings and money. If you think about it Los Angeles in the Number One markets for Entertainment so why not play 7 games and milk LA for its money. Lets do some numbers
When configured for basketball, the Staples Center has a capacity of 19,000 spectators
At about $100 a ticket the Lakers take in $1,900,000 in just tickets sale. Factor in $10 per person in food and novelties, that an additional $200,000. The Lakers are making a little more then 2 million dollars per home game. These doses not include advertisement and television coverage.
Some how both the Cavalier and the Celtics can wrap their serious off in only 5 games. I can remember a few years ago when the Lakers swept their first 2 competitors in the play offs. . I don’t think the media was happy with only 4 games serious.
So over all I think the Lakers are putting on a show to make more money both in advertisement and in revenue.

Mt High Fame

On Sunday night April 11, Mt High, in Wrightwood California, received six new inches of snow. This is highly unlikely because its fresh snow in the middle of spring. Lucky enough I was able to take advantage of this because of spring break. I headed up to the mountain on Monday and get some fresh powder to ride on. A great way to start spring break.
One thing that Mt High likes to do is make videos about all the fresh snow they have and post it on the Internet to show everyone. Normally they make the video that day and the next day it is up on the Internet for everyone to see. The video is normally of their pro rider plowing through the fresh snow. I am not a pro rider but I was able to make it into the video. For a whole 2 second I am in the video for everyone to see. I told all my friends and everyone thought it was super cool. My 15 min of fame came from the Internet and I didn’t even know I was going to be in the video.

Billboard off the 405 and Sepulveda blvd

I live on Manchester and Sepulveda blvd and to get to school everyday I take the 405. I notice a new billboard off the 405 this morning. All I noticed was some girl running and her butt. Her butt was in the middle of the add and it was BIG. I don’t know what was being advertised. So on my way home I took a better look. Again I looked quickly (going 60mph) and noticed it was a shoe advertisement from Dicks sporting goods from a new rebook shoe.

I officially hate this advertisement.
One because you don’t know what its advertising until you read the little print. And its hard reading little print going 60 mph
Two because its from Chick with Dicks Sporting Goods.
I don’t like Dicks because I work for Sport Chalet Sporting goods and Dicks is trying to take over the west coast. Dick was an east coast based company and bought the entire Chick Sporting goods store and has expanded to the west coast (Chicks with Dick). Sport Chalet is a much smaller company with only store in 3 west coast states. And now Dick is trying to take us over.
With crappy advertisement I don’t know hoe they are going to do it.

Television School Race

Today when I got home from school I decided to watch some television. I started thinking to myself why do all the character fall into race rolls. For example the star character tends to be a good-looking white male or female. The nerdy character is normally over weight or very skinny white male or sometime Asian. There always tend to be a good-looking female and her sidekick. And cant forget about the token black person sprinkled in. Your lucky to find someone of Hispanic desenct in any of the shows. Unless its on tellemundo or if it dosent have to do with soccer.

I find it really bad that the main character of a show cant be an Asian or a Hispanic, or even sometimes a black person. Who says the white is always better. Why cant the white person be the villain. Why dose the villain always have to be another race other then white.

Race in Sports

I have always been a big fan of any kind of sports. But just recently I have started race in sports. To me it seems like there are a few sports dominated by certain races. To me football and basketball players are mostly black. Hockey most of the players are white. And baseball tends to have a big mix.
I went to a predominantly black high school. 65% black 25% Hispanic and 10% other. And yes most of my friends were black. This conversation can up once before and I asked them why do you think that blacks are more into football and basketball. They all made jokes about how when they were little, before they could walk, they all have baby picture of them holding a football or a basketball. I thought to myself… “I have a picture of me when I was little holding a baseball bat.”
So is it our parents to blame for the race separation in sports. Or is the media the ones to blame. I know there have been several famous fights on ESPN about the race of quarter back in football. I also know that many sports commentators are very racially diverse. So just because I have white dose it mean I can’t play basketball. Or just because my friend is Hispanic doesn’t mean he can play soccer.
